Connolly Motor Group sponsors the West of Ireland Golf Championship for the Third Year

The 2024 Connolly Motor Group West of Ireland Championship was officially launched on 28th February at the scenic County Sligo Golf Club in Rosses's Point. This year’s event will take place over the Easter weekend, from Good Friday, March 29th to Easter Tuesday, April 2nd.

This is the third year in succession that Connolly Motor Group has sponsored this prestigious and renowned golf event on Golf Ireland’s tournament calendar and is conducted jointly by County Sligo Golf Club and Golf Ireland. The West of Ireland Championship, which is always held on Easter weekend, has long been the traditional start and curtain raiser of the men’s amateur Championship season. It has previously been won by major winners Rory Mcllroy, Padraig Harrington, and Shane Lowry.

Connolly Motor Group is proud to partner with this event as it's a fantastic competition in the amateur golfing calendar and right on our doorstep in the west of Ireland. With 13 dealerships across Sligo, Ballina, Letterkenny and Galway, we have a huge customer base in the region and Connolly Motor Group is synonymous with golf so it is very close to our hearts and as a group, we're proud to be involved.

After a two-year trial period in which the tournament format was switched to 54 holes of strokeplay with the top 16 advancing to matchplay, Golf Ireland have reverted back to the 36-hole strokeplay and 64-man matchplay format, a move that has been welcomed by players, fans and County Sligo Golf Club officials alike. Huge interest is expected for the event's 101st year and a strong field is expected to assemble once again. The event will be broadcast live on Ocean FM.You can listen to Co.
